Free Masterclass on Community Shares and Crowdfunding
As part of the Community Shares, Ready! Project commissioned by the Building Change Trust, Co-operative Alternatives will be holding a North West masterclass series which will feature a free seminar on community shares and crowdfunding.
On 4th September 2014 a training session will be delivered by Jo Bird, a specialist practitioner with 20 years’ experience in developing co-operatives, in collaboration with Tiziana O’Hara, Co-operative Development Officer in Co-operative Alternatives.
The seminar will be aimed at providing the most up to date information on Industrial and Provident Societies and sharing resources on successful co-operative business models.
It will be open to anyone interested in co-operatives and those eager to find out more about community shares and crowdfunding. Business advisors and development officers who provide legal, financial and business support to organisations in the Third Sector are also welcome.
The main focus will be on community shares as a tool available to co-operatives to raise finance.
The seminar will allow the participants to gain knowledge on co-operatives and community shares, understand the main elements of a community share offer and be able to compare this to other crowdfunding initiatives.
Participants will have access to practical examples of successful community share offers.
The event will be held on the 4th September at The Cottage in The Craft Village, Inner City Trust, Shipquay Street Derry/Londonderry from 10am until 1.30pm, with lunch included.
