5 Twitter Accounts You Should be Following

Online activity is heating up in the Northern Ireland Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector. Here is our guide on who to follow:

@NICVA – This account will bring you news and updates from the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) and from across the NI voluntary and community sector.

This is a membership and representative umbrella body for the sector, with over 1,100 members that range from household name charities to grass roots community groups.

NICVA lobby and campaign to advance the interests of the people and communities that their members support. They offer a range of practical services to help their members to find innovative solutions for social challenges. Check out their Twitter account to keep up to date with their seminars, training and news.

@NOW_project – With over 1,600 followers and over 3,000 tweets out there already, the Now Twitter account is a great place to find useful information about innovative approaches to training, employment and volunteering.

NOW is a social enterprise that works to help people gain qualifications and work experience to support them to move into jobs with a future. 

They are also NI delivery partners of Lloyds Banking Group’s award-winning personal money management programme Money For Life, which aims to improve the knowledge, confidence and skills of UK communities to help people to manage their money better.

@spaceplaceni – They are already approaching a follower landmark, with almost 400 of you getting behind this £15million 5 year capital grants programme.

Funded by the Big Lottery Fund and managed by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland in conjunction with the Northern Ireland executive, Public Health Agency, NI Environmental Link, Rural Community Network and Groundwork NI, it is designed to develop underused and contested spaces, to support the integration of communities across various divides in Northern Ireland.

@BIGNIonline - We couldn’t have a list like this without mentioning our own funders and encouraging you to check out the amazing work that they are doing.

Their Twitter account will keep you up to date with what is happening on their blog, where they make big announcements, such as the list of new grants released recently worth up to £3m.

Big Lottery Fund NI has a great following of almost 3,000 people and they run frequent competitions which could help your organisation. 

@WIMPS  - As a #Tech4Good Award Winner 2014, WIMPS’ profile has grown over the last couple of months. Set up to re-engage young people with politics, they make films, campaigns and hold those in power to account.

They have harnessed the power of technology to show that young people’s opinions do matter and encouraged more people to campaign for change.
