Trust Excited to Announce Inspiring Impact NI Development

05 October 2015

The Building Change Trust is pleased to announce that it has approved a strategic plan for Phase 2 of the Inspiring Impact NI Programme and anticipates Phase 2 commencing in January 2016 with a budget of around £250,000.

Inspiring Impact is a UK wide programme working with voluntary, community organisations and social enterprises to help them know what to measure and how to measure to demonstrate the difference their work is making.

As a partner in the UK collaboration, the Building Change Trust developed and commissioned Inspiring Impact NI to bring the benefits of the programme to the sector in Northern Ireland and was pleased to receive funding and support from the Department for Social Development to assist with working with public sector funders in particular.

Over the last 2 years, through a strategic partnership with Community Evaluation Northern Ireland, lots of work has been taking place to help organisations in the sector and their funders understand and plan for impact practice and this further investment aims to help embed and sustain impact practice more widely and deeper across the sector in the coming years.

The Trust’s investment comes following an award of £600,000 by the Big Lottery Fund to the UK programme for a further 3 years work and IINI and IIUK will be working closely together for mutual benefit in the coming years.

The strategic plan for Phase 2 has 4 priority areas and the Trust has asked Community Evaluation NI to produce an operational plan to develop practice, promoting resources, exchanging knowledge and influencing policy.

The success of phase 1 of the initiative was due to effective collaboration between the Trust, Community Evaluation Northern Ireland, DSD and a range of organisations right across the sector who received grant aid and other support to share the approach and resources with their members and other groups.

Nigel McKinney, Building Change Trust Director of Operations, said: “The Trust believes that the Inspiring Impact Programme meets a demand from right across the sector for high quality resources and support as organisations are ever more focused on applying their resources to make a real difference to the lives of people and communities”.
