Vision in Philanthropy

The Vision in Philanthropy project partnership was formed on the back of a US State Department sponsored visit to the United States in 2009 and in December 2010 received a £20,000 grant from the Building Change Trust through the Exploring Change awards programme.

The Vision in Philanthropy partnership comprises The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, Arts & Business Northern Ireland, Heritage Lottery Fund, Lloyds TSB Foundation for Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Assembly and the Ulster Community Invetsment Trust.

With resources from the Trust the partnership commissioned a research report into the philanthropy market in Northern Ireland. This was launched at the residence of the US Consul General on Monday 28 November and is available here.

The report makes the following recommendations for the development of philanthropic giving in Northern Ireland:

  • Develop a strategy to enhance philanthropy
  • Develop a communications strategy/action plan
  • Engage donors
  • Develop peer support networks
  • Improved mechanisms for giving
  • Mobilisation of the use of technology
  • Improvement to the philanthropy advice market
  • Enhancement of corporate philanthropy

The Trust is pleased to have been able to support this timely piece of work and wishes the partnership well with the range of events taking place as part of philanthropy week. The full programme of events is available here.
